Following the success of the ‘Get out of your Garage’ stage at the Bobby Jack’s Festival in Walcha earlier this year, Hugh Cook (the music curator behind it) has organised another opportunity for some of the acts to expose themselves to the community.

“We think the inaugural Bobby Jack's Festival was a huge success,” said Mr Cook. “It was a jam-packed day of music, arts and entertainment that the whole family could enjoy.”
Mr Cook said while the established acts that performed on the main stage were of a high calibre, the big surprise was the artist line-up that performed on the Get out of your Garage (GOOYG) stage.
“We were completely blown away by the talent that played on that stage,” he said.
“We did not know what to expect as there was no audition process. They just applied and turned up. There was a big buzz surrounding those acts, and off the back of the buzz, we have decided to put on a few showcases with some of the artists that performed on the GOOYG stage. These will be intimate gigs with between two to three bands or artists per bill.”

The first event will take place at the New England Brewing Company in Uralla this Saturday featuring The Briny Sea and The Lanterns.
“These two acts will go really well together, and the Brewery will be a great setting for them,” Mr Cook said.
“It's a bit of an experimental venue, but the atmosphere in there is really great.”
Mr Cook said later in the year the committee plans to stage some more shows involving the rest of the inaugural GOOYG stage artists.
“These will most probably be at McCrossin's Mill in Uralla where there is a great courtyard that is a perfect setting for the more acoustic acts like Lionel Solomon, The Graceless and Shaun Davies,” he said.
“The planning for the next Bobby Jack's Festival is already up and running, and we are currently locking in a date at the Walcha Showground. The 2019 event may well be staged earlier in the year than it was in 2018.”
