The statistics measure the incidents recorded to the NSW Police in the 12 months leading up to March 2018. 

Stealing from shop or retail store and motor vehicle theft are on the rise around the region, with 795 incidents of stealing taking place up until March 2018 compared to 713 in the same period last year. 464 vehicles were reported stolen compared to 417 in the same period last year.

Incidents of non-domestic assault are also more than the same period as last year. Police answered 1277 calls to assault in the 12 months leading up to March 2018, slightly more than the 1,211 assaults they were called to in the same period as last year.

In comparison to the rest of the state the region has 2.5 times more reported break and enters to a dwelling and a non-dwelling. Twice as many reports of steal from dwelling and twice as many reports of malicious damage to property. 

Notably Glen Innes recorded less half the amount of break and enter to a dwelling in the 12 months leading up to March 2018 compared to the same period as last year. The police received 116 reports in 2017 and just 40 until March  2018.

The Narrabri Shire recorded a downward turn in most major offences including assaults (domestic and non-domestic), break and enters motor vehicle thefts.

However, incidents of fraud have increased from 48 incidents in the 12 months leading up to March 2017 and 76 incidents in the 12 months leading up to March 2018.
