A disappointing decision by the Walcha men’s side to forfeit their match against the Super Spuds saw just the league tag game take place in Guyra on Saturday. While the Guyra men didn’t take the field, they came away with the two points.

“They were a bit disappointed about missing out on the home game but there is nothing to be done about that,” Super Spuds president Mick Wilson said.
“They will be champing at the bit to get going this weekend.”
Despite having the option to take two forfeits from the Walcha club, Guyra felt is was best to let the league tag game proceed.
“We are trying to do everything we can for rugby league,” Wilson said.
The league tag game which took the field was played in ‘good spirits’ despite both teams out on their feet with no bench.
They were a bit disappointed about missing out on the home game but there is nothing to be done about that.

Walcha’s defence earned them a 38-nil win against the Spudettes.
The Jillaroos had operated up a 20-nil lead by half-time before carrying on where they left off in the second session.
It was a tight tussle in the opening stages before Jillaroos winger Nicola Hoy opened up the scoring in the seventh minute.
Hoy scored again from the re-start and the visiting side continued to pile on the points.
Fatigue factored in for both teams in the second-half Guyra showed glimpses of promise before being shut down by Walcha.
Despite the loss, Wilson said there were positives to take out of the game.
“Once they get a few back, they have a bit to work on,” he said.
“[Walcha] looked pretty good with the ball in hand.
“It was probably a learning curve for them [Guyra] but they are a good bunch of girls, they have been training well.”
Mariah Landsborough was Guyra’s players’ player while captain Britt Youman claimed three points in both the club’s best and fairest as well as the coach’s points.
This Saturday the club head to Bingara, who were defeated in both divisions by Uralla in round three.
