Despite missing out on victory in the opening round of the season, Tenterfield Tigers league tag coach Wayne Minns is confident his side can come together and give the competition a shake.

The Tigers took on Guyra and were up against it from the start, with only 12 players available for the game.
The Super Spuds came away with a 22-6 win over the hosts in Saturday’s Group 19 second division season opener.
Taleah Byers and Taylor Waters scored for the visitors to hold a 12-nil lead.
They extended to 18-nil through Sharnie Cullen.
Kimbellie Johnson put the Tigers on the board, with Megg Landers converting, before Guyra sealed the win with a Sophie Gaukroger-try.
The Tigers league taggers didn’t get on the paddock last year after the Border Rugby League couldn’t entice enough teams to enter.
However since the BRL folded and the Tenterfield club shifted to Group 19 to compete the newly-introduced second division competition, an opportunity became available for the league tag side to re-form.
The Tigerettes won the 2016 BRL grand final but Minns said it is a different team to the premiership winners.
“It is virtually a new side to what we did have,” he said.
“There are a few inexperienced players but they held their own.
“I thought they did a marvelous job, it could have been a lot bigger scoreline.”
Minns said the side stood up in defence but their attack was hindered by mistakes.
“I think the girls took a lot of it, defensive-wise and how we have got to sharpen up our attack a little bit more,” he said.
“Our defence is pretty good really, three of the tries Guyra scored came off our mistakes.
“If we concentrate on cutting our mistakes down, things will be a lot better.
“The score could have been quite a bit different if our defence wasn't as good as it was. The girls should hold their heads up high because they played pretty good for their first hit-out with no trial games or anything.”
They play an unknown quantity in Bingara this Saturday and Minns is hoping to have a bigger squad for the clash.
“There's a few away so once we get them all back on deck I think we will be pretty good,” he said.
“With our new players and our players that have come back after a long lay-off, once we get them all up to speed again I think we will be very competitive.”
