Mr Good announced on Monday he will be campaigning for the seat of Northern Tablelands.

Born in the New England, the Uralla resident believes he is the strong voice that the region needs. 

“I’m standing as the Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party candidate for the Northern Tablelands because time and time again the Nationals have failed our region and taken us for granted,” Mr Good said.

“I am disenchanted by the National Party. They failed to stop forced council mergers; they’re failing to stop the sell-off of our railway line for rail trails; and they failed farmers when they scrapped drought relief funding.

“If people keep voting for the Nationals, they’ll keep on taking us for granted.”

Mr Good, who has worked most of his life in the electorate,said he believes the Northern Tables deserved better. 

“Any political party that has to only turn-up on election day to be elected will get lazy and complacent – and in the end the community suffers,” Mr Good said.

“Out here people see billion dollar projects announced in Sydney when we struggle to maintain our roads – especially the New England Highway and the Newell Highway.”

Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party MLC Robert Borsak said the early announcement was sparked by the party’s expectations for Adam Marshall to run for the federal electorate.

"We've heard in Armidale that Adam Marshall plans to run for the federal seat of New England if Barnaby Joyce resigns,” Mr Borsak said. “That's why we announced our candidate for the state electorate early."

But Mr Marshall told Fairfax Media he was “not going to entertain this speculation and political crystral ball gazing”.

“I’ve got a job that I am absolutely in love with, I love representing the people of this area. I’ve got a stack of projects and issues I'm trying to get more funding for to help the community,” he said.
