Armidale Regional Council will host community events in Guyra, Ben Lomond, Armidale and Tingha to provide all residents with an opportunity to reflect on being Australian, celebrate contemporary Australia and recognise our history.
“This is an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the wonderful community we live in,” Council’s Service Leader - Economic Development and Marketing, Greg Lawrence, said.
“It is important for us to celebrate new Australian citizens and to acknowledge our local heroes who have achieved success and given so much to our community.
“This is also an opportunity to let our hair down and come together with family and friends to celebrate the unique lifestyle of our region, and of course Australia, that so many of us take for granted!”
Australia Day Ambassadors will be on hand to join in the community celebrations in Guyra, Armidale and Tingha.
In Guyra, motivational speaker Steve Widders will be the ambassador, while the founders of Tour De Cure, Samantha Hollier-James and Geoff Coombes, will be the ambassadors at the Armidale ceremony.
