A 28-year-old man has been flown to John Hunter Hospital following a truck crash near Guyra on Thursday.
Emergency crews were called to the accident on Baldersleigh Rd and police are still on the scene.
The man is reported to be suffering head and leg injuries and will receive specialist surgery in Newcastle.
He was reported to be a stable condition.
New England Inspector Chris McKinnon urged motorists to stay safe on the roads this Christmas.
“We encourage people to drive to the speed limits and the road conditions,” Inspector McKinnon said.
“Obviously you can’t always travel at the speed limit when road conditions change.
“We encourage people to please take their time so that they can spend this Christmas period with their loved ones.”
