Kelsie Youman proved her talent and versatility at what was a busy and successful NSW Relay Championships.

Youman was part of a 50-strong team who wore the Armidale Athletics Club’s stripes at the meet earlier this month and brought home a whopping eight medals, including two gold.

She was a part of one of those golden moments, teaming up with Grace Cassidy, Eliza Ward and Chiyo Brown to win the under 18 women’s 4x800m relay.

After one of the under 20 female sprinters wasn’t available to run in the 4x100m on the Saturday, Youman also stepped up to fill in and ran the anchor leg.

More noted as a long distance runner, it was a big ask for her racing against the fastest sprinters in the state, but she showed that she has plenty of pace when she needs it to hold off all but one of the other teams as the Armidale team stormed home to secure the silver medal.

In the process they set a new club record for the women’s 4x100m of 50.37secs.

Youman finished with a full set of medals, joining forces with 800m team-mates Brown and Ward, and Issy Gooch to win bronze in the 4x1500m.

The teenager was also part of the under 18 4x400m team that finished fourth and combined with Gracie Martin, Mikielee Snow and Bella Watts in the women’s open medley relay. The quartet’s time of 4mins 19.52secs was the fastest time on record for the club and saw them place sixth.
