Australia's top agricultural exports for 2015-16 were beef ($8.3 billion), wheat ($5.1 million) and wool ($3.3 billion) and the National Farmers Federation estimates that agriculture supports 1.6 million jobs from the city to the bush, in areas like retail, logistics and processing.
Did you know that each year the average Aussie farmer feeds 400 Australians, and 600 people around the globe?
Tuesday, November 21, is National Agriculture Day, so we want to capture the dedication and passion of our local farmers and we would love to tell their stories in print and online.
Or if you’re organising or know about a local event that is happening to celebrate our agricultural producers we’d love to know about it too.
If you've got a story to tell for National Agriculture Day, get in touch with the Walcha News and email us on rachel.baxter@fairfaxmedia.com.au or via our facebook page.
