Armidale Regional Council community consultation for Guyra main street redevelopment

Guyra people can now share their views on the proposed plans for the upgrade to the main street.

Council will be consulting with the community to gather feedback through a variety of engagement opportunities from a week-long display in the main street to online discussion forums.

The concept plan for the $2.7 million main street project includes full reconstruction of the road pavement, footpath paving and new kerb and gutters.

Building on community engagement the current design incorporates two pedestrian crossings with a central refuge which will assist with traffic calming.

It also includes street landscaping, bins, seats and new street lights.

The current plan also reflects community feedback with the proposed nose-in angle parking and a long mid-block shared zone deleted from the final plan following contributions from the Council’s former Access Advisory Committee and the Guide Dog Association.

Businesses will have an opportunity to repaint their shopfronts with paint supplied by Council, in keeping with a new colour scheme to be suggested by a colour consultant. Plans and feedback forms will be on display at High on Bikes from November 6 until December 1.
