Punters who backed the $2.80 favourite Melted Moments in Saturday’s Benchmark 50 would have had their hearts in their mouths as the gelding jumped and sat on the outside of the pack.

It was an awesome run.
- Paul Grills
The Paul Grills-trained galloper also carried the top weight of 59.5kg, down from 61.5kg after apprentice Cejay Graham’s claim, over the lengthy distance of 1900 metres.
If you thought Melted Moments was going to run out of steam, you would be wrong.
The six-year-old just kept getting faster and stormed home to win by a length.
He never looked out of breath as he held out the competition.
“It was an awesome run,” Grills said.
“He jumped well but not quite well enough to get him quite where we wanted him.
“Cejay was quite wide all race, he was running three wide, the 1900m and came home and won it.”
Grills was thankful for his wife’s help in preparing the six-year-old, who he said hit his peak.
“After that run he is right there,” he said.
“There's a Benchmark 60 here in 10 days time, he will be in that and we will see what happens from there.
“Thanks to Angela, she is a great help to us.”
