Four junior rugby league players from Guyra will take on Northern NSW’s best this weekend when they play in the championships in Forster. Harry Lockyer and Bailey Wilson will suit up for Group 19’s under 14s side while Jack Armatage and Jack Lockyer will play in the under 15s. The quartet shifted north this season to play for Glen Innes in the local competition due to the Super Spuds not having enough players to field sides in those age groups.
Four is an impressive amount for to have represented and is on par with other towns in the region.
“That is a fair few out of Guyra, that is pretty good,” club president Gina Lockyer said.
“If you consider the other towns, we are up there really.
“We have a pretty fair representation which is good for a small town.”
This weekend the junior Super Spuds will host the Glen Innes Minor League at home. The under 8s will get the day underway at 10am. The junior league tag girls play next at 10.50am. The under 10s are at 11.40am and the under 12s will line up at 12.30pm.
