“The two don’t go together too well I suppose,” Mr Strachan said.
“I’m still interested in nutrition and how the body works, but I don’t practice what I used to preach, that’s for sure.”
The only thing I had to annoy were cows basically, so I was pretty lucky in that regard – I could pretty much play drums whenever I wanted.

Playing at A Day on the Green in Armidale next year, Mr Strachan joined the band in 2002.
Recommended by mutual friends, Mr Strachan played for a band called Pollyanna at the time – but he hasn’t looked back.
“One door closes and another one opens,” Mr Strachan said.
“I think they auditioned 50 or 60 people, all those people that put my name forward got a bottle of their favourite spirit.”
Growing up on a farm, Mr Strachan said he’s looking forward to playing a gig out in the bush.
“The only thing I had to annoy were cows basically, so I was pretty lucky in that regard – I could pretty much play drums whenever I wanted,” he said.
When he was younger he used to play along to Guns N Roses records, and said he was always attracted to rock and roll music.
“If you had of said to me when I was fourteen that I would make a career out of this and play in this amazing band with two incredible musicians – I might have had to pinch myself a bit,” Mr Strachan said.
“There’s moments when you’re playing when it just becomes effortless and it’s almost like an out of body experience.
“You know when you’re riding a bike down a hill and the bike’s doing all the hard work for you – it’s this out of body experience every now and again and that’s the thing that we search for, that feeling.”
Bringing music to the bush is something he enjoys being a part of.
“It’s always good because I think people appreciate the effort it takes to bring music out to those sorts of places,” Mr Strachan said.
“I think people in the bush enjoy themselves a bit more to be honest.”
A Day on the Green is on in Armidale on March 3 next year.
The Living End will play alongside Spiderbait, Veruca Salt, The Lemonheads, The Fauves and Tumbleweed.
A coach will pick up from Tenterfield, Deep Water, Glen Innes, Glenco and Guyra on the day.
