Walcha wins Vets Pennants

Walcha’s golfers secured their third New England Veterans Pennants title and thier first in nearly 20 year.

The final round of the competition was played last Thursday at the Guyra Golf Course. 

Leading by 35 points going into the last round, the Walcha team held on to win by 25 points after they scored 233 points to give them an overall four round total of 956 points. 

Runners up were Guyra 931, followed by Armidale Green 870, Armidale Blue 857 and Uralla 835.

A total of 70 players registered to play last Thursday with 22 from the Walcha club where the seven best scores making up the team total carded by Simeon Cross 37 points, Col Berry 36, Cheryl McDonald 35, Doug McDonald 33, Warwick Hogan 31 on a countback from Neil Dark 30. Ladies long drive was caressed by Penny King, NTPs went to Doug McDonald (7) and Barbara Mulligan (9) while Vicki Heffernan won the raffle.
