The event, which was held by the National Servicemen’s Association, saw a memorial service at the National Servicemans Monument in Central Park.
“The service is held annually in remembrance of the national servicemen, especially conscripts, who were killed in action, died during their service or have since passed away,” Guyra Central School student Hunter Davidson said.
“Our attendance at this ceremony was greeted with warm welcomes from many of the veterans, widows and representatives in attendance,” he said.
“The ceremony highlighted the continuing importance of veteran and widow support organisations and the community involvement that is essential in keeping such organisations running.”
Armidale and District National Servicemen’s Association president Barry Dawson visited the school this week to present a wall pennant and card showing thanks for them being involved and attending the service.
