Having the opportunity to listen to Nicole’s story this week was both inspiring and touching and we believe that the Guyra resident is a fine example of the amazing characters that live in this community.
In addition to her incredibly brave decision to be part of an Australian-first medical trail for a stem cell transplant to cure her Multiple Sclerosis, Nicole has now even returned back to work as a nurse at the Armidale hospital.
It is these stories, like Nicole’s, that are so kindly shared with us and that make producing the Guyra Argus every week so special and enjoyable.
Since the recent changeover with the paper, we have been blown away by the amount of people who have come forward to share their stories with us.
People like Nicole Corry, Colin Stanley from the Guyra Country Fresh bakery who is about to celebrate 30 years of having the pie shop in the family.
Residents like Stephen Garrett who has been riding his bike around the area almost every day for the last four years.
Inspirational community members and businessmen like Dane O’Connor, the devoted father of five who also conquered cancer before being named this years emerging business leader.
Bill Wicks and his wife Judy who donate their time so generously to make sure that the Guyra Can Assist branch can provide locals with vital services to help through difficult times.
Not only does Guyra boast some amazing people who have done some truly outstanding things, we also have a great wealth of talent here.
Talent like Crooked Tree’s lead singer Ian Russel who also organises the annual Lamb and Potato Festival and David Bearup who certainly has a way with words and writes some fantastic and funny poetry.
We thank people like Richard Stanley who occasionally contribute stories to us about some of the wonderful things that happen in Guyra and the history of the town.
We believe Guyra has a really exciting and productive future ahead of it.
There are so many inspirational people living within the Guyra community and surrounds and we look forward to working with you and bringing the news to you weekly for many more years to come.
