The Glen Innes based jockey has ridden her fair share of winners across the region but had a tough task when she mounted up on the $55 outsider on Monday.
Grills said she has improved a lot as a jockey and handled Phyil’s Prince, who was only in his second career race, to grab the win.
“She rode pretty well under instructions,” he said.
“She got out about mid-field off the fence.
“He is only a two year-old and had one start before that so he is pretty green but she managed to keep control of him and get him where she wanted him and just let him run home.”
Grills said she was happy to get 100 wins under her belt and believes she will continue with her winning form.
“She is just a good little apprentice coming up through the ranks,” he said.
“She 100 per cent rises to win.
“There is no rubbish about her.
“She will have to win 200 now I suppose.”
