This weekend, the U8’s and Junior Girls start the day off at 10.00am.
Could all the U8’s bring a cake or slice to sell at the canteen.
Any parents who have a child playing league, could you please give a hand at the canteen, even 10 or 15 minutes helps.
Under 8’s:
As always, the under 8’s took the field full of confidence with plenty of team talk.
Under the guidance of Dan Mitchell filling in as coach, the boys defended really well.
Thomas Brazier tackled anything that moved, the bigger the better. Nayte Foster showed good technique tackling around the legs. Billy Lockyer and Archer Starr put their bodies on the line in defence.
In attack, Tommy Mitchell and Maverick Foster made some good straight runs through the middle. Kody Patterson showed some nice footwork and found space. Darcy Heagney and Hugo Brazier showed plenty of speed when racing away to score tries.
Guyra were too strong for Ashford running in 12 tries for a comfortable win.
Under 10’s
Last weekend we travelled to Bingara to take on the Bullets.
With Ryan Williams leading the boys out as captain, Guyra started off slowly with trys to Ty Mulligan and Harrison Brazier. With a goal to Archie Dowden, Guyra went to half time leading 10-0.
The second half went better for Guyra with Ty Mulligan scoring his second try plus trys to Brendan Landsborough and Oscar Atkin.
With Will Knox scoring his first career try, Guyra won the game 26-4.
We play Inverell at Guyra this weekend with the boys playing at 10.50am.
Hope to see a crowd there to watch the boys.
Under 12’s
The under 12’s faced off against Ashford for the first time this year. A few positional changes were made as the team were missing a couple of regular members.
Tom Lockyer was given the opportunity to captain the side and led from the front all game.
Plenty of enthusiasm was shown in the opening minutes with the Guyra forwards, particularly Ben Jones, making some big yards straight up the middle.
Guyra were proving too strong in attack and raced in four unanswered first half tries.
One of the most pleasing parts of the first half was Guyra’s scrambling on-line defence. The second half was more of the same with Angus Brazier making a 60m charge up the middle.
The backs kicked into gear following the momentum of the forwards by backing up well and stringing some nice passes together.
Kye Baker benefiting on the wing and going over in the corner for his first try of the year.
Guyra used the ball well in the second half scoring an additional six second half tries.
Guyra ran out deserving winners 46-0.
