The entire day was a great success with four games of quality football, followed by an auction and raffles which raised an astounding total of $16,500 which will be donated to the Brazier family.
The community spirit was alive and well, with items being sold and then re-donated to the auction in an effort to raise as much money as possible.
The day kicked off with Wright College vs. Robb College in Rugby Union 3rd Grade. Wright College went down to Robb 57 to 17.
The Guyra Super Spuds then took on the Inverell Hawks with Reserve Grade winning 46 to 40 and First Grade going down 40 to 30 to Inverell.
Guyra Ghosts then took on Robb College, defeating them 33 to 7 in one of their tougher matches this season. The Ghosts are currently on top of the table and showing no signs of giving up their lead in the competition.
The Ghosts played a good physical match, with tries scored by Tony Dittman, Dean Turner, Dan Sisson, Leroy Devine, and Nick Cumming. Points this week went to Dan Sisson, Liva Sili, Dan Vidler and Player’s Player was also Liva Sili.
The Guyra Rugby Union Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Wright College and the Inverell Hawks for working with our clubs to make this event happen as well as to Professional Stock and Land Guyra for running the auction.
A huge thanks also goes to the following for their donations: Dasha’s Hardware, CT Electrics, Ron & Maureen Looker, Landmark Guyra, Kirks IGA, Grazag, Soles Taxation, the Presnell Family, Sam & Kirsty White, Vidler’s Butchery, Gold Coast Titans, Brad Looker, Hairy Tales Comb True, JoJo’s on Bradley, the Tibbs Family, and Sutto’s Royal Hotel Guyra.
Lastly, we would like to thank each and every person who came out to show their support for this cause and made the whole event the success it was.
This Saturday we take on the Gwydir River Rats at home with kick off at 3pm.
