The first semi was played out between D Kennedy and M Shiner. After five ends the score read 4-all (this was going to be interesting).
Dan then jumped and by end nine was holding an 11-4 lead. Mick clawed back and after 13 ends was trailing by two shots (11-13).
Dan’s turn and after 18 ends was still in from by 20-14. With Mick not lying down, he fought his way back and after 23 ends found himself in front 23-20.
Not to be outdone, Dan came again and after 27 ends he was in front, score reading 27-23 (and on the springboard).
Mick’s turn again and after 30 ends he was in front by 29-27.
On end 31, Dan scored a single leaving the score at 29-28 to Mick.
Mick on the next two ends scored two singles to taste victory over Dan by 31-28.
Just for the record, 33 ends were played, Mick winning 18 ends and Dan winning 15. Scores were level on two occasions and the lead changed hands six times.
In the other semi, D Wilcox took on S Sole.
With Steven in good form of late, this was going to be tough for David. Steven came out the better, going to an early 3-nil lead and then stretching it out to 10-1.
After nine ends David had come back a tad to be trailing 4-10. Steven must have thought that his lead was like a rubber band because he kept on stretching it out (17-4, then 23-5).
Final wash-up was a well earned victory to Steven over David.
Steven and Mick will now fight it out in the Final of the Major Singles, at the date to be fixed.
Due to Pennants being played this weekend coming, we have no games of Club Championships set down.
