Guyra were looking good, scoring an early try in only the second minute of the game, with Beau Orchard putting the ball down after a set put together by Dan Vidler. A missed conversion had the score at 5-0.
Armidale was next to put points on the board, followed by both teams kicking a penalty goal. The score at half time had Armidale with a narrow lead at 10-8.
The game was full of penalties from both sides of the field, but the Ghosts dominated the scrums and a push over the line allowed Rob Ivey to score in the 40th minute. This time Beau Orchard’s kick for conversion was successful making the score 15-10 to the home team.
Guyra defended well in the second half but tensions were running high with both sides becoming frustrated and unable to score.
This was a much closer match for Guyra than the previous three games, until Beau Orchard broke through Armidale’s defence and put other 5 points in Guyra’s tally.
The final score was 20-10 to Guyra and the Ghosts remain undefeated after four games.
Players’ Player for Guyra was Liva Sili, with points also going to Les Perrett (3), Liva Sili (2) and Tony Dittman (1).
This Saturday Guyra host Gwydir River Rats at the Guyra Sporting Complex, with kick-off at 3.00pm. Gwydir are coming off a 39-0 loss to Albies last weekend and will be keen to put points on the board.
We encourage everyone to come along and support the Ghosts!
