Finalists from the six regions of Lions District MD201N1 contested the regional final of the Youth of the Year Quest on April 9. The final was hosted by the Tamworth Peel Valley Lions Club and Sponsored by N.A.B.

Contestants were Brenton Knight (Coffs Harbour/Pacific City), Elizabeth Argue (Macksville), Stephanie Clark (Port Macquarie), Huw Knox (Guyra), Ashleigh Bridge (Kootingal), Emma Kennedy (Gunnedah)
The contestants all faced five judges for their interview at Calrossy School. The impromptu questions and prepared speeches that make up the Public Speaking part of the quest was held at the Tamworth Golf Club over the course of the official Dinner.
Contestants were all supported by family members as well as members of their home club. Huw was supported by his father Jim and sisters Eva and Emily, as well as Lion Jim and Lions Lady Joyce Betts.
The overall winner of the District Quest was Stephanie Clark of Port Macquarie, who now progresses on to the next level to held at Raymond Terrace. The winner of the Public Speaking section of the Quest was Elizabeth Argue of Macksville.
The two impromptu questions were Does free speech mean that you can say what you like? and Should Maths be compulsory in the HSC?
