Parishioners, friends, family and colleagues gathered together at St Patrick’s Catholic Church Ben Lomond for mass on Sunday February 7. Following mass everyone accompanied Father Castelli to the new rock entrance where he performed a blessing of the refurbished gates and brass plaque acknowledging the contribution of Gwen Cunningham and others whose strength and dedication is recognised.

It was these people who first strived to build and then fought to retain the consecrated building. Their encouragement and participation has sustained the site as an active centre of regular worship. We attribute the ongoing presence and function of the church in Ben Lomond to the sincerity and persistence of these cornerstone members and are pleased to acknowledge their contribution in this way.
Thank you to those people whose generous donations allowed the work to be undertaken and to the people who donated their time and expertise to resurrect the old gates and entrance.
It was noted that the gate restoration was a fitting gesture in Gwen’s memory, since the gates’ alignment and poor condition had caused her a regular annoyance.
