GUYRA Shire Council’s plans to revamp the town’s Aquatic Centre have moved into top gear after receiving some good news from Northern Tableland MP Adam Marshall with a grant of $20,000 from the NSW Government.

Mr Marshall said the $50,000 project would include the installation of playground equipment and a picnic area to encourage families to stay and play.
“This is an excellent project and when council approached me regarding its plans and application, I was more than happy to give them my full support,” Mr Marshall said.
“The aquatic centre is a wonderful community facility and council is taking a holistic approach to this upgrade and making it even more user-friendly by creating a playground, picnic and barbeque area that will encourage families to make a day of it.
“The children’s little pool will also have a few added attractions to make it more appealing and shade sales will be installed over the picnic area.
“It will be the perfect spot to take the family on a hot summer’s day.”
Mr Marshall said major work would be completed during the off season so there would be no disruption to centre’s summer programs.
“It’s a good outcome for Guyra Shire Council and community; it’s very pleasing to be able to offer this sort of financial assistance to a local council that does such a wonderful job maintaining its large portfolio of public assets,” he said.
Guyra Shire Mayor Hans Hietbrink said council was delighted to receive the funding and thanked Mr Marshall for his efforts on their behalf.
“This is an important project for the Guyra community and we certainly appreciate Adam going in to bat for us to secure this funding,” Cr Hietbrink said.
