Big is rarely better! Community relationships grow and flower in smaller well-knit communities. These factors are being totally overlooked and are at risk.
If these relatively small projected financial benefits are the principal reasons for amalgamation, the cost savings from eliminating State Governments should be considered first! Eliminating the duplication which occurs between Federal and State would surely exceed the benefits from the current proposals.
