Shooters travelled from the Central Coast, Mudgee, Brisbane and Quirindi as well as several local New England Clubs to compete for healthy prizes.
On Saturday, shooters competed for the 100 Target Sporting Clays.
Rod McCloy (Newcastle Lake Macquarie) won the Championship with a score of 86/100.
Justin Barton from Allora Qld was first in AA Grade with 102/120 and Alan Bauer (Kariong) took second place with his score of 101/120.
Ben Rumbel (81/110) took A Grade and Amy Buys (Kariong) was second (80/110).
B Grade went to John McKinnon (62/100) from William Summers (62/100). Dave Newberry (55/100) won C Grade. Karen Buys took second with 50/100.
The 25 Target Skeet Challenge was the second event for the day. Grade results are as follows:
AA Grade 1st Jeff Richardson 24/25; AA Grade 2nd Alan Bauer 23/25; A Grade 1st George Roth 20/25; A Grade 2nd Blake Handebo 20/25; B Grade 1st Wayne Heagney 18/25; B Grade 2nd Jack Roth 18/25; C Grade 1st Gareth Greve 16/25; C Grade 2nd Mal Moffatt 16/25. Tied scores were decided on count-back.
The Club Skeet Challenge, a teams’ event, for an annual trophy between Guyra and Central Coast Muzzle Loaders, was won by Guyra.
The New England Sporting Clays Championship was contested on Sunday with Alan Bauer scoring 91/100 to win the overall prize.
Amy Buys shot 89/100 in AA Grade and Jamie Hayes was second with 110/132.
Ben Rumbel shot 102/128 and won A Grade. Rod McCloy secured second with a score of 101/128.
George Roth took B Grade (82/112), beating John McKinnon (81/112).
C Grade was won by Tayla Roth with a score of 80/124 and Michael Grills was second with 79/124.
The Overall High Gun for the weekend was won by Alan Bauer with a score of 175/200.
Craig Hayes won the AA Grade High Gun shooting 172/200. Amy Buys took the A Grade High Gun with 162/200. Joseph Clifford (Hendra Qld) took B Grade shooting 136/200. Dave Newberry shot 131/200 to win the C Grade High Gun.
Fred McCloy won the Veterans’ High Gun scoring 158/200 and Helen Overton shot 142/200 to secure the Ladies’ High Gun. The Juniors’ prize went to Jack Roth from Kariong with 160/200.
Craig Hayes was the only shooter to be presented with a 25/ 25 Break cap for the weekend, always coveted in this discipline of clay target shooting.
