The gathering is an opportunity for rural women to voice their key issues and explore ideas which will then be presented to key decision-makers and used to build knowledge that improves programs and policy.
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said that the weekend will offer women the experience of the Celtic Country and all it has to offer in local attractions and cuisine.
“Beautiful Glen Innes is steeped in history and participants will be able to explore the Beardies History House Museum and Research Centre and see the many iconic federation-style buildings,” Mr Marshall said.
“The local art gallery will display ‘Wonderful Women’ an exhibition by local artists celebrating rural women.”
The program is full of inspiration with educational and informative tours and activities that include visiting one of the world’s most respected paddock to plate beef enterprises as well as local gardens.
Showcasing successful local small businesses, learning fossicking techniques, creating a wooden momento, exploring creative writing techniques and taking control of your health and wellbeing are also on offer.
Guest speakers include Mary ‘Effie’ Coustas, Jean Kittson, Georgina Dent and locals Gail and Roger Fletcher.”
The weekend will feature a Gala Dinner with local produce and the entertainer Grant Newsome who will share highlights of his international musical and dance career.
The 2015 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll recognising rural women volunteers will also be launched at the event.
