A future plan for the Guyra Showground is currently being developed. We invite all members of the community with an interest in the future of the Showground to attend a community consultation meeting at the Community Hall on Tuesday, 29 September commencing at 6pm.
Council was pleased by the announcement made by MP Adam Marshall that we were successful in our bid for funding to construct a new amenities block between the Guyra Recreation Ground and the Guyra Showground. The current facilities are in poor condition and in desperate need of replacement.
This funding of $49,999, through the Public Reserves Management Fund Program, will allow for new facilities to be constructed for community events and sporting activities held at both the Showground and Recreation Ground, allowing us to get the most benefit out of the facilities.

Citizenship Ceremony
Council will be holding a citizenship ceremony on Australian Citizenship Day, 17 September 2015, to welcome new Australian citizens into our community.
This event has been arranged to coincide with Australian Citizenship Day, to give everyone in the community an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the meaning and importance of Australian citizenship and the role Australian citizens have in shaping our nation.
Members of the community are welcome to attend this citizenship ceremony, which be held at the Guyra Shire Council Chambers commencing at 10am, and help celebrate with our new citizens.
Parking in the Main Street
I would like to remind local business owners and staff to try and avoid parking in Bradley Street to allow more parking for residents and visitors. This will not only benefit the community, but will also increase patronage to your stores.
