Guyra travelled to Armidale to take on the undefeated TAS side. The boys knew it was going to be a tough game, and tough it was, not only having to match it with this quality TAS side but there were some very poor refereeing decisions going against Guyra which kept TAS right in the game at all times.

To their credit, Guyra held their heads high and outclassed TAS in every aspect of the game.
Guyra got off to a slow start and with the penalty count against us TAS had many goal scoring opportunities, but with some great goal keeping from Jake Ellis and some solid defence in our back line we managed to keep them out and scoreless for the first half.
Guyra had their first chance mid-way through the first half with a penalty awarded inside the box, which saw our captain/coach to the spot for the free kick, BJ smashing it past the keeper to give Guyra an early lead.
Just prior to half time saw the younger of the Kliendienst brothers, Corby, having another massive game hitting the back of the net and giving Guyra a 2-nil lead.
The half-time talk confirmed the players had to be on their toes so as not to let the game slip away like last time.
Second half started very much like the first, it was slow and the refereeing poor, TAS hitting back with a spot shot of their own, following another wake up call for Guyra when the TAS striker evened the score at 2-all.
From then on the young Guyra side took some control and showed the TAS side how sharp they are.
Matt Simpson and Tyson Burey clocked up a lot of kms out wide and Young Gun Darcy Jackson pushed hard up front and combined well as always with Corby and BJ.
Dan Lennon, along with Braden Sole, had their usual solid game in the middle and our young outside backs, Austin Youman and Luke Brazier kept the TAS attack at bay.
Our newest recruit Alex, the little red headed pommy, filled in a few different positions throughout the game and showed he can really match it with the Aussies.
Birthday boy Jake Ellis put his body on the line pulling off some great saves. Happy 18th Birthday Jake from all your team mates and the Guyra Soccer Club.
With the Guyra side now building momentum stringing together some solid passing, the TAS defence fell apart and Corby took advantage scoring his second goal for the game.
This putting Guyra back in front and rattling the TAS side allowing Corby to pick up his hat trick of goals, running onto a through ball and clipping the keeper from 30 metres out scoring his third goal for the match making the final score 4-2.
A big thank you to our loyal supporters out-numbering the opposition crowd as usual.
Points this week: Corby Kliendienst 3, BJ Kliendienst 2, Dan Lennon and Jake Ellis 1.
This week is a home game, Guyra against North’s, 2nd Grade kicking off at 1.00pm and 1st grade at 3.00pm. All supporters welcome.
