Shooters were greeted with sunny skies and fresh breezes as they battled the 100 targets for the time honoured “Cool 100” at Guyra Gun Club on Sunday, July 26. Seventy shooters travelled from the North-West, Hunter Valley and Southern Queensland to compete for cash and prizes.

The “Cool 100” was sponsored by Northern Star Conveyancing, a club supporter for some years.
The earlier event on Sunday, the New England Winter Championship, and Saturday’s events were sponsored by Kirks IGA; Michael and Kay Hunt (Perrazi); Jetty Boating Coffs Harbour; Landmark Guyra; Grazag Guyra.
Craig Hayes displayed his consistency and took this year’s “Cool 100” with an impressive score of 110/110. He and Nick Tanner were the only two shooters to post the 100/100 possible.
The Grade results are as follows:
AA Grade 1st Brad Henshall 124/125; AA Grade 2nd Tony Rogers 123/125; A Grade 1st Nick Tanner 109/110; A Grade 2nd Morgan Bell 111/115; B Grade 1st Bud Sweeney 103/111; B Grade 2nd Ian Durkin 102/111; C Grade 1st Kaylene Estcourt 83/100; C Grade 2nd Russell Sainsbury 74/100.
The earlier event, the New England Winter Championship, was won by the in-form local shooter Nik McRae with the only 100/100 registered in the event.
John Reid won AA Grade with 99/100 and Craig Hayes shot 118/120 to take second in AA Grade.
Bill Fletcher’s score of 116/120 secured A Grade, with Ralph Larkings shooting 115/120 and taking second in A Grade.
B Grade went to John Barker (107/120) and Alan West (106/120) took second. The C Grade winner was Kaylene Estcourt (83/100) and Russell Sainsbury shot 80/100 to secure second place.
Two events were conducted on Saturday, 25 July. Results of the 25 Target Point Score are:

The 25 Target Double Barrel was the second event on Saturday. The Grade results are as follows:
AA Grade 1st Romeo Spagnolo 69/69; AA Grade 2nd Kevin Bourke 68/69; A Grade 1st Nick Tanner 25/25; A Grade 2nd Ross Aston 37/39; B Grade 1st Greg Brunsdon 39/40; B Grade 2nd John Smith 38/40 ; C Grade 1st Kaylene Estcourt 22/26; C Grade 2nd Paul Davidson 21/26.
The overall High Gun was won by Craig Hayes (198/200). The Grade High Gun winners are as follows:
