The weekend’s game of soccer took us to Glen Innes where we were taking to a field that a high percentage of both teams, first and second grade had not had a win on.

Once again second grade started with the win and this was a booster for us first grade players to continue the success in front of a well gathered Guyra crowd.
It’s not often noted about the Guyra crowd that turns up week in week out, rain, hail or shine. The support was definitely noticed in Glen Innes on the weekend with a lot more cheering coming from the Guyra supporters. The benefit of having this was and is something our teams boost off.
The game started off with Darcy Jackson lobbing a kick over the keeper from outside the box. We had once again started strong and sometimes this has been our downfall in previous weeks.
The goals began to flow from some great shooting from BJ Kliendienst and Darcy Jackson as they were able to hit the back of the net once again. The controlling half, Darcy, proving he is capable of some fine shooting. We were now winning 3–0 early into the first half.
Some nice ball control between Corby Kliendienst and Darcy helped put a ball through for myself where I saw that the keeper was out of position. I hit a hopeful ball which ended up as a one in one hundred shot that sailed into the top corner of the goal.
We went into the half happy with everyone’s efforts. The backs were performing well and the halves working vigorously.
The half-time talk was led by Adam Brennan who pointed out the flaws and faults of the first half. It was obvious that we had patchy sections in the first half and we wanted to start the second on our toes and ready to continue to a big lead.
Second half start mirrored the discussion at half-time, when some anticipation from the striker Corby intercepted a ball in the backs within the first couple of minutes which saw him one on one with the keeper and knock it into the back of the net.
Next to score was Glen, when a sharp striker was taken lightly and knocked two quick goals on us, seeing the score 6-2. This inspired the Glen team and their enthusiasm began to show for a brief period.
Well done to the boys not getting their heads down from this as we scored more goals, finishing quite comfortably with the score 10-2.
Goals scored were by BJ Kliendienst with 1, Darcy Jackson with 2, Corby Kliendienst with 3 and myself with 4.
A real good effort throughout with acknowledgements going to the defensive lines helping to create the chances for us strikers.
We are hoping that the two week break does not dampen the spirits of the team.
Points for the match went the way of: Corby kliendienst and Jake Ellis 3, BJ kliendienst and Darcy Jackson 2 and Tyson 1.
