Amy Sheridan has started work in our Evans Street office in Inverell, while Gareth McLennan has commenced duties at Greenaway Street in Glen Innes.
The latest Local Land Services recruits have a lot in common. Both are agricultural science graduates from the University of New England in Armidale, and both were previously working in the feedlot industry involved in animal health and nutrition.
Biosecurity officers work with ratepayers to monitor herds and flocks across the region, and share up to date advice and information with the agricultural sector to boost productivity. They also assist in the coordination of control programs for invasive pests and species.
Amy and Gareth have just completed training in the handling of 1080 baits so they’re ready and rearing to get involved in the next round of feral pest baiting programs in the region.
They will work closely with District Vets and the rest of the Northern Tablelands Local Land Services Biosecurity & Emergency Services Unit headed up by Team Leaders, Mark Tarrant and Steve Eastwood.
