Fundraising for the construction of a helipad adjacent to the Guyra Multi-purpose Health Service (MPS), began in December 2012 with a donation of $9,619 from an auction and fundraiser held by Elders Guyra.
The Rotary Club of Guyra continued the fundraising with a Snow Ball held in July 2013 with more than $20,000 raised. Since then Guyra Rotary has coordinated the effort.
Oliver Flint, General Manager Costa Tomato category, said that as a major business in the Guyra community they are not only pleased, but also privileged to be able to support the fundraising efforts by the Rotary Club.
“With a large number of our 400 employees living in the Guyra community, I know full well that they and their families rely on their local hospital,” Mr Flint said. “The ability to provide air ambulance services to and from the hospital is vital and it will ensure the local community has the best possible access to emergency health services.”
President of Guyra Rotary Wendy Mulligan said that the club is overwhelmed at the significant donation by Costa.
“This contribution demonstrates Costa’s commitment to our community and the people who live, work and travel here,” she said. “It means our multi-purpose Health Service can, and will, be able to provide emergency services and be a first class medical service. We can’t wait to start construction and this contribution means we can start sooner.”
“I wish the Rotary Club all the best with their continued fundraising efforts for the community, because without such institutions and the dedicated members who devote so many hours to charity work, our local community would be considerably poorer,” Mr Flint concluded.
