Mr MacDonald has been a Member of the Legislative Council since March 2011.
His appointment was confirmed last week by the NSW Premier, the Hon. Mike Baird MP. The Premier has assigned new Parliamentary Secretaries across regions to replace Ministers for designated areas. The Parliamentary Secretaries will report to Cabinet quarterly. The functions include ensuring the NSW Government delivers on its promises.
Mr MacDonald said he is looking forward to the new role.
“The Hunter and Central Coast have some of the most rapidly growing communities in the State,” Mr MacDonald said. “The Hunter is also one of our key economic drivers, with almost all of the New England and North West’s major commodities and raw materials exported or imported through the Hunter.
“I also like to think it will be valuable to have someone from the regions with a voice in Government,” he said. “I think the next four years will be transformative as the State Government undertakes unprecedented Capital Works following the privatisation of much our Poles and Wires.”
“I am proud that Guyra will enjoy a little more profile in Macquarie Street.”
