In the spirit of the Potato-Pie Challenges of years past, the Spuds take on the Rams in two grades as senior football finally returns to Guyra for the first time since 2012.
After a gutsy effort at the Armidale Nines a few weeks ago this will be the first 13-a-side test for the Spuds in first grade, while the women’s leaguetag side also makes its return.
The Spudettes face Armidale from 6pm with the men’s game to follow at about7pm.
Guyra had a bye in the first round of pre-season games last weekend.
Armidale started with a 38-20 loss to Glen Innes in Armidale, while the Glen leaguetag side won 34-nil.
Elsewhere Warialda upset the Moree Boomerangs 40-30 and Ashford scored a 42-38 victory over Tingha in first grade.
Ashford also won the leaguetag at Tingha.
Guyra will also play Glen Innes in the pre-season before hosting Ashford in the premiership season opener on the weekend after Easter.
Training continues tonight and all players wishing to have a run tomorrow night should be there.
