With rain expected it might be damp, but it is sure to lift spirits. The official opening of the Show will take place at 6.30pm on Friday evening, with the soon to depart Father Anthony Koppman performing the honours.
There will also be a ceremony to officially unveil murals which now adorn the walls of the community hall at 6pm.
Preparations for the Show stepped up this week with all hands on deck to set up in readiness for the weekend’s events. Pavilion Head Steward Rita Williams has welcomed the involvement of students from Guyra Central School who assisted with the setting up of stands in the hall on Monday.
“We are very grateful to the school for encouraging the students to become involved,” she said. “They do a mighty job and without them it would be a lot harder to get the preparations done in time.”
Some of the events happening over the two days include Dog High Jumping, Bull Calcutta, lolly scrambles, Horse Ball, Bicycle Dash for Cash, the Demolition Derby and the potato pick-em, sack-em and stack-em competition. Entertainment til late on Friday night and the Fireworks on Saturday are always crowd pleasers.
There will be a great line up of rides and amusements and trade exhibits are expected to be very strong with local exhibitors as well as others from Inverell, Armidale, Dorrigo, Byron Bay and as far afield as Queensland
There will be plenty for people to see and do, so don’t let the weather dampen your spirits. Revel in the fun and bring some friends along to get involved in some of the events.
