The closure of the Armidale sale and the move to Guyra was anticipated to draw more buyers and lead to an increase in competition, and that proved to be the case.

The inaugural sale was held on Wednesday January 7 at the Guyra saleyards and the first sale in this new format attracted three new buyers to the region. 

1400 Lambs and 700 Mutton Sheep were offered and a large crowd was in attendance to witness the first sale.

The second sale this week took place under cloudy skies with mud underfoot. 2895 lambs and 2449 sheep were yarded from a wide area from north of Glen Innes to south of Walcha.

This was a much increased yarding with heavy and trade lambs firm to dearer in places. Mutton was cheaper mainly due to the quality. Heavy Lambs topped at $155.40. 

The lamb market, with a much improved seasonal outlook in 2015, is looking very promising with extra enthusiasm in the market place, from both meat operators and a growing gallery of backgrounders. 

All are looking to secure their share of the excellent quality lambs on offer at the bigger and better Guyra Sheep and Lamb Sales, held every Wednesday at 11am.
