In the first match, the team of Robert Walls, Murray Bourke, Barry Walls and John Jackson took on the team of Robert Moore, Mick Rusden, Bill Betts and Geoff Reeves. Robert, Murray, Barry and John went to an early lead; a lead which they never surrendered, going away with a 23-12 victory.
The second match saw Andrew Sparke, Ivel Reid, Braden Sole and Steven Sole battle it out with Mick Shiner, Roger Cox, David Wilcox and John McIlwain.
With this game going end for end and with Andrew, Ivel, Braden and Steven holding a 5-4 lead after five ends, this was where Mick, Roger, David and John started to shine (bit of a pun!), going to the lead and then eventually securing victory to the tune of 27-11.
The third for the day saw Cameron Peardon, John Pennell, Barry Campbell and Scott Campbell take on Willie Jones, Graham Starr, Col Stanley and Dan Kennedy.
Cameron, John, Barry and Scott away first, leading 4-0 after three ends. Willie, Graham, Col and Dan came back and took the lead 5-4. Scott and team then back in front, out to 9-5. It then went tit for tat and by end 15 the scores were all locked up at 13-all (six to go).
With two ends remaining the scores read 16-15 to Dan and team. Final score was 18-16 to Willie, Graham, Col and Dan over Cameron, John, Barry and Scott.
This weekend, 20 and 21 December, NO Championship matches have been boarded (getting close to Christmas). But, if anyone wishes to organise their own games, feel free to do so.
The Annual Brian Vickery Ham Day set down for Sunday, 14 December was postponed due to lack of numbers. This has been rescheduled for Sunday, 21 December.
Once again, this will be box pairs, with three games of 10 ends, with the best four teams to play off.
Names are to be in by 11.30am for a 12.30pm start.
This is for bowlers and non-bowlers alike. So, if you would like a chance of winning a Christmas ham, come on down (don’t be scared).
As this is the last report for the year, a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year to everyone out there.
