Mr Marshall said the speed limit on the New England Highway at the northern end of Guyra has been reduced after the former 100km/h speed limit was reviewed.
“The review was carried out in accordance with the NSW Speed Zoning Guidelines and in consultation with Guyra Shire Council,” he said.
“The review assessed a number of factors including roadside development, the sporting fields, traffic characteristics and crash data.
“The existing 70km/h zone on the New England Highway in Guyra has been extended 500 metres north, ending 300 metres north of Falconer Road.”
Mr Marshall said the change aimed to improve safety for all road users by making the speed limit in the area more consistent.
“Motorists are reminded that the new speed limit is now enforceable and they should take note of the new signs which have been installed,” he said.
