The day doubled as the ‘Blush Awards Ceremony’, recognising those employees who had excelled in their roles over the past twelve months. They also celebrated the multi-cultural nature of the workforce with 45 nationalities represented.
The most prestigious award was shared by two locals Andrew Danieletto and Dan McGinty. The peer voted award for most valued employee (or best and fairest by another name), saw the pair equally recognised for a great contribution to the business and the community.
The party was thriving with cultural performances by the Taiwanese, Nepalese, Tongan and Australian communities celebrating the cultural diversity within the company.
The celebration also saw the culmination of fundraising efforts by Costa employees on behalf of the Cancer Council. Employees once again put together a team to participate in ‘Movember’ and raise money to help change the face of men’s health.
This year $2,765 was raised and this was matched dollar for dollar by Costa bringing the total amount raised to $5,530. Over the last three years Costa employees have raised over $10,000 for this great cause.
A group of staff also donned PINK Costa and Cancer Council shirts for the month to help raise awareness of breast cancer.
The fundraising continued at the Christmas party with employee and local identity Jack Jones shaving his beard and long locks to bring the total raised to more than $6,200.
Ashleigh Worldon from the Cancer Council said that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer and 1 in 688 men. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths of woman in Australia.
Ms Worldon thanked the community of Guyra for the valuable contribution they have made to fund ongoing research and services in the fight against breast cancer.
