The Guyra based team is called ‘High on Bikes’ and they are inviting others to join them to ride throughout the month of October.
They have set a goal to pedal 5,000 km throughout the month and to raise $1,000 and are already well on the way to reaching this target. Given the current level of donations they are looking to increase this target all of which will go towards helping these kids and give them the brighter futures they deserve.
How does Great Cycle Challenge work? You set yourself a ride target and pedal it down over the month, logging your kilometres via a free app which is linked to your personal ride page.
Why are they doing this? Because cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Australia – three children die of cancer every week!
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
Team organiser Judi Wark said that it will be tough, but nothing compared to what these kids face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease.
“To achieve our goal, we need your help,” she said. “You can join our team, or sponsor us to support our challenge. It’s a great excuse to get on your bike! I hope you can join High on Bikes and pedal with us this October to end childhood cancer.”
You can check out the team’s page greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Teams/HighOnBikes or contact 0400 677 280, for more information or to make cash donations. Donations over $2 are tax deductible.
All funds raised will support Children’s Medical Research Institute to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
