In the semi-final they took on the Glen Innes champions and in a cliff-hanger Dan and Chris fell over the line by 22 shots to 21. The scores were 21-all with one end to play.
The final then saw Dan and Chris do battle with the Uralla pairing (sorry, no names) and in what was another dour encounter, Dan and Chris triumphed by 21 to 19.
So congratulations to Dan Kennedy and Chris Kliendienst on becoming NEDBA Champion of Champions Pair for 2014. They now go to the Zone play-offs. All the best boys.
Another bit of travelling news, David Wilcox and John McIllwain went to Inverell for their Pairs Carnival. They were victorious with five wins from five games, but after count-backs they ended up in fifth place.
Now for news at home. This weekend, August 30 and 31 will see the staging of the Guyra Bowling Club President’s 2 Bowl Open Triples Carnival. Play will commence 9.00am both days. Each team will play five games of 18 ends. Wins and margins will decide placings. Cost is $90 per team which includes lunch on Saturday. Prize money is in excess of $2,200. Thank you to the sponsors (names in next week’s news).
A strong field is expected, so if not participating feel welcome to come on down and witness great bowls.
Our Club Championships are just around the corner. If you haven’t nominated as yet you must do so as nominations will close this Saturday, August 30.
Social Pairs bowls will be held on Sunday, September 7 at approximately 11.30am (mufti dress).
