Last Saturday, Guyra took on a very competitive DK side. DK needed to win to be able to play finals football so we knew that they were going to come out all guns blazing wanting to beat us, and with this said, we knew we had to step up and play a great game.

We started the game pretty well. DK had the most opportunities to score but couldn’t convert, due to Guyra’s pressure. Guyra had their own chances as well with the whole team playing well and this was frustrating the DK side.
Both teams kept pushing but neither team was able to score and showing great skills in defence to save plenty of attempts. Both sides also showed plenty in attack, creating many close opportunities and it was a very even game for the first half. As half time came, Guyra walked off the field a happy side, but DK were not with the score nil all.
We knew that DK would come out firing even more in the second half so we had to stay with the pace of the game and keep playing good soccer. Both sides had opportunities but neither could still convert. The Guyra side and supporters were right into the game and the DK side and supporters seemed to be pretty quiet. Great soccer was played for the first 35 minutes of the second half and the score was still locked at nil all with 10 minutes to go.
Fatigue was starting to set into both sides. Unfortunately, DK were the first side to take advantage of this and we went 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go. Some players’ heads dropped and there was a hole in our defensive structure that had opened up. DK disputed this well and managed to score another 3 goals within the remainder of the 10 minutes.
We ended up losing 4-0 but definitely should have at least drawn the match nil all at the very worst. We played 80 minutes of brilliant football and I can’t fault one player. If we had points running, everyone would have got my three points.
We play our last game this Saturday against South Armidale. So everyone come along for the Casper’s last game of the season! We would love to see you all there.
