Local organisations and sporting groups were this week allocated the proceeds for the 2013/14 financial year totalling $6,282.74.
The Guyra branch of Can Assist received the highest donation of $1,353.23 and they currently have 57 (up from 32 last year) account holders who have nominated to support them.
Other groups to receive substantial donations were Guyra VRA Rescue Squad $1,025.67 (31 supporters), Guyra Bowling & Recreation Club $728.20 (8 supporters), Guyra Central School P & C $646.08 (22 supporters), and Guyra United Soccer Club $605.45 (9 supporters).
There are currently 21 Community organisations registered for the scheme. Members are able to nominate their preferred organisaton and at the end of the financial year the Community Mutual Group makes a donation at NO COST to the member. The payment is calculated at 1% of the average annual balances of accounts held by supporters.
Community Partnership accounts coordinator at New England Mutual’s Guyra branch, Shona Mulligan said the scheme is an easy way you can support your chosen group without it costing you anything.
“As long as you have money in your account, your chosen organisation will receive an annual bonus from us,” she said. “By nominating a favourite community organisation, you can increase the amount paid out to recipients each year.”
The more supporters an organisation has, the more they will receive in their annual bonus payment and small amounts saved by individuals can become significant.
“To receive the maximum benefit organisations should encourage members, friends and relatives to nominate them as a recipient,” she said. “I am happy to come along to a meeting and explain how it works.”
If you haven’t already done so, next time you are in the branch let one of the staff know which local group you wish to support. If your organisation hasn’t already registered they can find out more about the Community Partnership Program by calling into the branch or call Shona Mulligan on 6779 2630.
