The Lions Club of Guyra held its annual changeover on Saturday May 31st at the Guyra Bowling Club.

Outgoing President Graeme Shiels thanked his fellow committee members for their tireless efforts throughout the year and said that it was a joy and a privilege to have been trusted with a second year as President.
Throughout the year the Guyra Lions Club helped out at a number of community events and projects including the Lamb and Potato Festival, Driver Reviver, Meals on Wheels, the annual Senior’s Mystery Trip and the Camp Quality Bike Ride.
They also held working bees to complete the shelter at Lions Park and at the Thunderbolt’s Cave Picnic area.
During the year the club made donations totalling almost $10,000 to a large number of projects as including Sara Brazier (Special Olympics)$500, Camp Quality Bike Ride $200, Guyra Central School (new guitars) $700, Guyra MPS for equipment $1000, Guyra Preschool for shades $1000, Can Assist $800, Westpac Rescue Helicopter $800, VRA $500, Careflight $500, and school book prizes totalling $550. They also fund the annual Senior’s mystery trip and supported Lions Drought Relief, Cord Blood Project and the Australian Lion Foundation.
The incoming President for 2014/15 is Bill Betts, with Bob Furze continuing as secretary and Bob Vidler as Treasurer.
