Touch Footy grand finals were played last weekend after a drawn out process with wet weather affecting semis (not that we are complaining, we definitely needed it.)

The mixed game kicked off the finals and was played in great spirit with Ditty’s team taking out the Healthy Highlanders mixed trophy. Women followed up with a few of the girls from mixed having to back it up straight away for Fifty Shades. This one was a hard fought game with Fifty Shades only running away with it late in the second half. Thanks to Bubby Campbell for refereeing the girls.
Men’s saw one of the best grand finals played in many years with a nail biting finish. Steve McElroy put his head on the line to save a try late in the second half that would have seen the scores even and push the game into extra time. Born Again eventually took the game before full time.
Thanks to Richo for refereeing the other two games, without referees we cannot run the competition. A big thankyou to all that participated in this year’s competition, making it a very successful and fun comp. Thanks to all those who contributed to refereeing.
Thanks to Cookie for his sponsorship again this year. We will be holding an AGM in the next couple of weeks and would like to see a representative from every team there to look at ways to improve the competition next year. A few ideas have been passed across the table and it would be great to get everyone’s feedback. Watch this space to see when the meeting will be held.
