HOLLYWOOD actors Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce will head to Canowindra next month to film scenes for their upcoming film Strangerland.
The mystery drama centres around a couple whose lives unravel after their two teenage children go missing in a dust storm.
Filming will take place in far western NSW, Sydney and the central west, with at least some scenes to be shot in Canowindra’s main street, Gaskill Street.
Canowindra residents will also be able to play an on-screen role in the film with producers looking to cast several extras including teenage dirt bike riders.
They’re also looking to cast several five or six-year-old boys.
Anyone who’s interested in auditioning for a part in the film is asked to register with extras@smallbone.tv and be available for a casting session on Wednesday at the Royal Hotel in Canowindra.
One of the film’s executive producers Richard Payten comes from Canowindra.
The film marks the feature debut of Kim Farrant who’s directing a script written by Fiona Seres and Michael Kinirons.
Screen Australia chief executive Ruth Harley, whose organisation is helping to fund the production, said the film had “a strong creative vision and massive A-list festival potential”.
