A glorious summer’s day greeted 29 golfers on January 12 as they teed off to contest an individual stableford event combined with a putting competition. Welcome to John Hancock from Darwin, Tony Foran (back to his old course), Boyd Stanley, Scott Youman and juniors Josh Colley and Jaidyn Towells.

Putting was well contested with 28 putts over 18 holes from Pat Grills, Harold Stanley, John Hancock and Herb Wilson. This score was surpassed by John Prisk with 26, but this was not good enough to win as Tom Crozier carded 25. Over nine holes John Prisk, Tom Crozier and John Hancock putted only 12 times. Nearest the pins were won by Len Stanley on the 7th hole, Nancy Prisk on the 9th and Graham White on the 18th. Pat Grills scored 3 four point holes, Len Stanley and Narelle Leven twice each and once to Bruce Thomson, Brian McLeod, Tony Foran, Nancy Prisk, Judy Wicks, Narelle Crozier, Josh Colley and Max Skinner. Bruce Thomson had the best 9 hole individual score with 21. Pat Grills with 43 stableford points just failed to win the major event as John Prisk sneaked past him to record a wonderful 44 points. John’s 77 strokes off the stick was the best for some time.

Thank you to all who helped with the Lamb and Potato Festival.

The first Pennants match will be on Tuesday, February 9. It will commence with a shotgun start at 9.30am. All names will need to be in by 9.00am that morning. Guyra Open Days will be held on Monday, March 8 and Tuesday March 9.
