Shooters right on target

Thirty-two shooters competed in windy conditions at Guyra Gun Club’s January 30 shoot. Shooters contested five events during the afternoon.

The first event was a ten target point score eye opener. Tammy Kelly, Jeff Richardson and Geoff Baxter all shot 30/30. Dave Edmonds and Noel Campion both scored 29/30.

Geoff Baxter was the only shooter to post a 20/20 possible in the Single Barrel event and win AA Grade. Second in AA Grade was Dave Edmonds with 30/31 after a shoot off. A grade went to Tammy Kelly with 19/20 and Dave McMillan recorded 17/20 to take second. Garry O’Brien shot 17/24 to win B Grade from John Reid on 16/24. C grade went to David Newberry with 17/20 and David Casbolt posted 13/20 for second place.

The Handicap event was won by Dave McMillan who posted 30/31 after a shoot off. Second place went to Tim Dale on 29/31 and Brian Campion shot 28/31 for third place.

The AA Grade winner in the 20 Target Double Barrel event was Dale Ellis with 22/22. Second was Roger Vidal with 21/22. The A grade victor was Brian Campion on 29/30. Robert Reeves shot 28/30 to take second place. Bill Moore won B grade with 23/24 from Dave McMillan on 22/23. C Grade went to Helen Finch who recorded 21/22 and David Newberry secured second place with 20/22.

?The final event for the day was a 10 Pair Double Rise. The AA Grade winner was Graham Sweeney with an impressive 19/20. Roger Vidal scored 18/20 to take second. A Grade was won by Brian Campion with 17/20. Tammy Kelly shot 14/20 to take second. Grahame Armour shot 14/20 to win B Grade from Garry O’Brien on 11/20. C grade went to Tim Dale with 13 /20 and Nick McRae also posted 13 /20.

The day’s High Gun was won by Club President Jeff Richardson with a score of 107/115.

Meanwhile, at the NSW State Carnival at Wagga last October, four local shooters represented the Northern Zone. Tammy Kelly (ladies), Geoff Baxter (Veterans), Geoff Fields and Brad Henshall were selected for that Northern Zone Team. Brad Henshall shot off for the High Gun for the state team where he was victorious and also qualified to represent NSW as number two team shooter at the Nationals in Wagga this April. There were 400 shooters who attended the state carnival.

The Guyra club hosts its two day open shoot on Saturday February 27 at 9.00 am and Sunday February 28
