Wednesday night saw 10 bowlers kick off Wednesday Twilight Bowls, all started of well but was soon rudely interrupted by light rain however a winner was determined and that was David Wilcox and Braden Sole. With the first night out of the way it is not too late to take part in this competition. So if you would like to play just turn up on Wednesday Night and enjoy the bowls. Box draw, $4.00 per player, 6.00pm start.

A number of games were set down for play Saturday November 8, however Mother Nature had other ideas and rain intervened washing out the afternoon after only one end of play.

Sunday Morning November 9 saw the Semi Finals of the Prestige Singles Elimination played. Shane Beechey won through by a forfeit, the other game was between Dale Smith and Anthony Bull. This game was a very entertaining game of bowls to watch. Dale and Anthony were level for the first 11 ends going shot for shot, it was at this juncture that Dale found his range and put on an exhibition of precision draw bowls, opening a substantial lead one Anthony was unable to breach even though he never gave up trying. Dale went on to win the Semi Final 25 – 15 over 29 ends.

Sunday Afternoon November 9 saw the Final of the Elimination Singles played between Shane Beechey and Dale Smith. This shaped up to being a tight contest. Shane started with a bang opening a handy lead, Dale set about closing the gap striving to reproduce his form the mornings game, this he was unable to achieve. Shane kept up his relentless pressure producing precision draw shots and accurate drive shots to shut Dale out and go on to win the Final 31 – 16 over 29 ends. Congratulations Shane for becoming the 28th player for the Prestige Singles, this completes the field, more information on the Annual Carnival as it draws nearer.

Also played Sunday afternoon were a number of Club Championship games.

In Open Singles: David Wilcox played Geoff Reeves and even though David was the winner of this game it was an entertaining match to watch. Geoff held shot on a number of ends only to have David draw him off and take the end. This did not only happen on one end but on numerous ends. David went on to win 31 – 16 over 29 ends.

Dan Kennedy played Steven Sole, Steven was out of the blocks early taking a very healthy lead only to have Dan show his experience in keeping his nerve and draw his way out of trouble and keep Steven on the devils number (13) for seven ends. Dan opened an unassailable lead of his own and closed out the game 31 – 15 over 26 ends.

Chris Kliendienst played Braden Sole and even though Braden was playing a very experienced player in Chris, he did not give in. The game was even up to the 13th end this was when Chris open a lead one Braden was unable to breach. Chris won this game 31 – 13 over 25 ends. Also played was a Major Singles game and that was between Col Stanley and Barry Presnell. Col has been out of bowls for a while however he has not lost any of his guile and he really put it to Barry.
